Organ Recital "in progress" - Hosanna filio David by Jeanne Demessieux

The second part of Andrew's online Organ Recital "in progress" is ready!

Today, we offer you Hosanna filio David by Jeanne Demessieux, played by Andrew Adair on the Salisbury Cathedral Hauptwerk sample set by Milan Digital Audio.

Jeanne Marie-Madeleine Demessieux (1921-1968) studied the organ privately and at the Paris Conservatoire with Marcel Dupré. Demessieux became an international concert organist, playing over 2,500 works from memory. This work is a setting of the Gregorian chant antiphon for the blessing of Palms on Palm Sunday. "Hosanna to the son of David. Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest!"

(Andrew has a marvellous home organ that has been set to recreate the sound of the great organ in Salisbury Cathedral, and which allows him to record directly to a computer, and he is offering up these musical meditations as part of our efforts to find ways to keep you connected in this very strange and difficult time.)
