Organ Recital "in progress" - "Praeludium pastorale super gamut descendens" (Stainer)

Andrew's online organ recital “in progress” continues!

Praeludium pastorale super gamut descendens by John Stainer, played by Andrew Adair on the Salisbury Cathedral Hauptwerk sample set by Milan Digital Audio.

The Victorian composer and organist Sir John Stainer (1840-1901) was hugely popular during his lifetime. He was Organist of St. Paul’s Cathedral, and subsequently Heather Professor of Music at Oxford University. Stainer’s Praeludium pastorale super gamut descendens is just as the title describes: a pastoral melody accompanied by a descending scale in the pedals
