Make an Easter Garden

  • Church of St. Mary Magdalene 477 Manning Avenue Toronto, ON, M6G 2V8 Canada (map)

These natural displays illustrate the story of Holy Week, from the path to Jesus’ crucifixion, the three crosses on a hill, and the cave with a stone to roll away in front of it – and, at the same time, celebrate the wondrous season of rebirth and new life as grass seeds planted during Lent, grow up around this scene in time for Easter. Those who have participated in past years are asked please to bring and reuse their large dish and small terracotta planter, if possible. We will provide soil, seeds, one succulent for each garden, tools, flat stones, and twigs for crosses. Garden decorations include stones, shells, glass pebbles, pinecones – and there are peg dolls to make with figures from the Resurrection Story. There is a small cost associated with this activity: $5 if you have your dish and planter, $10 if not. As always, we have a Pay What You Can policy. You are welcome to bring friends and family – please RSVP to Melisa Leyland or Alice MacLachlan( See their emails on our Get Involved Page) Snacks will be provided.
