Quiet Day at SMM with Sister Connie

A Quiet Day: Exploring the Rule of Life of St. Benedict With Sister Connie

The Church of St Mary Magdalene

Saturday, May 13

9:30 AM to 4:00 PM

Register HERE

Join us for a day of worship, reflection, and fellowship. With Sister Constance Joanna (please call her Connie) as our guide, we will explore how the Rule of Life can be meaningful to Christians today.  Written in the 6th century, Benedict’s Rule of Life has played a vital role in the long history of Christianity.  One thousand years later, in the 16th century, it shaped the first Book of Common Prayer when the Church of England separated from Rome.  Since then, it continued to inform the spirituality of the Anglican tradition.  Today, it remains a source of wisdom and guidance for a church that finds itself in an increasingly secular world.

We invite you to explore with us how Benedict’s Rule can strengthen community life, help us envision a strong future, and inspire our parish to share its worship with the wider community around us.

We start with coffee and baked treats at 9:30, followed by Mass at 10 AM.  We invite you to bring your own lunch, with coffee, tea, and other beverages being available through the day.

We welcome your participation. Feel free to invite a friend!

There is no fee for this event.

Make an Easter Offering

Remember the days when there was a special envelope in every parish leaflet on Palm Sunday asking for a special gift for Easter Sunday!

Times have changed - but our gratitude for the Resurrection and the coming richness of our worship during Holy Week has not. Easter brings new life. And we have other new life to celebrate – the first year of Father Eric’s presence just completed; our new priest, Fr. Jake; and our two new music directors, Robert and David who share the provision of the inspiring music of our liturgies.

You can express your thanks easily by simply using the link below and making your donation.

https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/m/81067?v2=true

Or if you prefer, you can use a pew envelope when you come into the building and mark it, "Easter Gift". Either way we can all share in the beauty of the season and support our ministries.
