Shrove Tuesday & Ash Wednesday at SMM
On Tuesday, 13 February, we will celebrate Shrove Tuesday with a Said Mass at 5.00 pm, followed by a pancake supper at 5.30 pm in Hiscocks Hall. Following the pancakes, you are invited to come out to the Rectory Close to help Fr Eric burn last year’s palms for this year’s ashes.
On Wednesday, 14 February, we keep Ash Wednesday with a Said Mass with Imposition of Ashes at 10.00 am, and a Solemn Mass with Penitential Rite 7 & Imposition of Ashes at 7.00 pm.
Candlemas Fundraiser!
After the 6pm mass to celebrate Candlemas on Friday, 2 February, please join us downstairs in Hiscocks Hall for a special sherry and shortbread reception.
The reception will open a very special fundraising event. Thanks to a wonderfully generous gift from Prof. William Blissett, his personal collection of CD’s and LP’s will be available for sale. This will be a chance to explore a discerning collection of recordings offered for sale in support of the music program at SMM and, in particular, to welcome our new children’s choir. A copy of his personal bookplate will be included with every purchase.
All are welcome! A most sincere thank you to Prof. Blissett for sharing his collection representing a life-long love of music and concert-going. We invite everyone to celebrate with Prof. Blissett his deep appreciation and long-standing support for the music program at SMM.

Advent Lessons & Carols: From Darkness to Light

Join us for a meditative service of Lessons & Carols for Advent, inspired by the ancient O Antiphons, and full of readings, hymns, carols, and organ music for the season.
