The Wider Web
Here are links to other Anglican Churches in our area as well as the larger church of which we are part. There are also a few links to the vast amount of information available on the internet about the Anglo-Catholic movement.
The Parkdale Deanery
A deanery is a group of Anglican Churches organized according to their geographic area. The Parkdale Deanery is composed of the following churches (plus SMM).
The report to the Parkdale Deanery Development Council presented in July 2007 is now available here, along with various supporting materials:
The Larger Picture
St Mary Magdalene's is a part of the Parkdale Deanery, which is in the Episcopal Area of York-Credit Valley under Bishop Philip Poole's jurisdiction in the Diocese of Toronto. The Diocese is, in turn, part of the Anglican Church of Canada. Being Anglican means that our church has a historical relationship with the Church of England and is currently in communion with the Archbishop of Canterbury.
Understanding the Anglo-Catholic Movement
SMM has, from the beginning, been a parish deeply impacted by the Anglo-Catholic Movement. Briefly stated, the aims of this movement are to renew the spiritual life of Anglicans through participation in the sacraments of the Church, by embodying the ancient truths of the Church, particularly as they are known in the Roman Catholic Church. Here are a few links of interest for understanding this movement and its place in the Church.
